6% of drivers say mobiles are unacceptable

Just 6 per cent of motorists regard using a mobile phone while driving as highly socially unacceptable, according to a survey.

And 13 per cent of drivers aged 18-14 see drink-diving as more socially acceptable than five years ago, the poll from the 1st Central Insurance company found.

The survey of 2,000 motorists of all ages also showed that 38 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds thought driving under the influence of drugs was more unacceptable than driving under the influence of alcohol.
