2,000 dogs in Kennel Club ‘stay’ record

Thousands of dogs are due to go barking mad in Leicestershire as they attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

More than 2,000 dogs are expected to trot out for the launch of the Kennel Club’s international agility festival where they will try to get their teeth into the record for the largest simultaneous dog stay.

They have to beat the current record of 627 dogs, which is based on the greatest number of canines who “stay” successfully for a two minute period.

There will be practice runs throughout the day at Rockingham Castle in Market Harborough, with the world record attempt taking place late on Friday afternoon.

The Kennel Club will be trying to break the world record with the help of the International Agility Festival competitors and their four legged friends. Competitors from all over the world, as well as local competitors, will be taking part in the world record challenge.

Now in its ninth year, the Kennel Club International Agility Festival, which is supported by CSJ Specialist Canine Feeds, takes place from August 9 to 11 at Rockingham Castle.

With more international entries than ever before, this year’s event will be composed of an array of competition from all over the world.

Spectators can look forward to seeing around 2,500 dogs jumping, weaving and racing their way through a variety of courses in one of the 16 agility rings that will be set up for the weekend.
