Neighbours had previously spoke of hearing a disturbance in the block of flats on Park Road on Tuesday night.

A spokesman for the force said: “Grampian Police can confirm that two females have been arrested following the incident that took place on Park Road during the evening of Tuesday 10 July.

“They are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in due course.”

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Dunn, who is heading the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the public for their assistance to date and continue to appeal to anyone who may have any information and has not yet contacted us to do so as soon as possible.

“As the matter is now the subject of live court proceedings it would be inappropriate for Grampian Police to comment further.”
