Two injured in late-night city centre attacks

A MAN headbutted a 20-year-old woman during a robbery in an Edinburgh city centre street early yesterday.

The attack took place at about 3:30am in North St Andrew Street, near the National Portrait Gallery. The woman was approached by two men, who tried to talk to her before one of them punched her in the face and headbutted her.

He then grabbed her handbag and stole money.

The attacker is white, in his late twenties, 5ft 5in, of slim build with short black, gelled, spiky hair. He was wearing a grey or green jacket and jeans.

Meanwhile, a man has a serious head injury after he and another were attacked by two men in South Charlotte Street, also at about 3:30am.
