Two in hospital after street attack by thugs

The incident happened around 3.30am on Sunday.

Two men were waiting for a taxi when three men approached them and subjected them to a serious assault.

A 25-year-old man sustained significant injuries to his face a 24-year-old man sustained an injury to his shoulder.

The two victims were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where one was later transferred to Western General Hospital.

The first suspect is described as white, 26-27 years old, 6ft 1-2inches tall, with a medium build. He had a gingery beard, Scottish accent and was wearing thick black-rimmed glasses, a black coat/hoodie, jeans and trainers.

The second suspect was white, 25-26 years old, 5ft 8inches tall, with a slim build. He had short gingery-brown hair, a Scottish accent and was wearing a white t-shirt, and a red and green tartan coat.

The third suspect was white, in his early twenties, 5ft 11inches tall, with a slim build. He had shoulder-length dirty blonde hair.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Detective Constable Chris Harding said: “This was a vicious attack which has caused significant distress and injury to two men.

”I would urge anyone who saw the incident or the suspects, or who knows who they are, to contact police immediately.”
