Animal welfare workers were called out on Wednesday 11th June when the two foot snake was spotted trying to escape through a vent at the property at Lochranza Place in Saltcoats, Ayrshire.

The snake, which has been nicknamed Slither, is now recovering the care of the charity’s Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Cardonald.

Tricia Smith, SSPCA animal rescue officer said: “A workman discovered Slither coming out of the house through a vent and contained her until I got there.

“She’s a young corn snake and we suspect she may have belonged to the previous tenant who moved out few months ago as the house is currently empty.

“Unfortunately, we have no means of contacting this person so we’re hoping they might recognise their pet and come forward.

“It would be wonderful to return her to her owner if she has gone missing.

“If no-one comes forward for her we’ll find her a new home.”
