Twitter scandal won't go away for Democrat politician

A DEMOCRAT politician who denies uploading a photograph of his crotch onto Twitter has refused to say whether the image is of him.

New York-based Anthony Weiner, who represents Queens, claimed someone had hacked into his account and sent the image to a young woman.

However, yesterday the 46-year-old said he could not be sure the image was not of him. Asked if he had every taken similar pictures of himself, he said: "There are - I have photographs."

The photo was sent via Twitter to Gennette Cordova, a 21-year-old student from Washington State, last weekend.

The affair has been dubbed Weinergate - a play on the US slang for penis, "wiener".
