TV set blamed as fire kills 14 in jail

AT least 14 prisoners died in a fire at a jail in northern Mexico, officials revealed last night.

Nuevo Leon state's public safety department said the blaze swept through the jail's psychiatric wing in the town of Apodaca.

One official said the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in a television set. An investigation has been launched.
