Troops step up army drive

SOLDIERS have been marching on to the streets of the Capital in the army’s latest recruitment drive.

Troops from several regiments will be out and about in several city locations until Saturday to provide advice and information on life in the forces. They will also be promoting the Territorial Army’s summer challenge – an intensive five-week basic training course at Redford Barracks.

Major Donald Smith, area recruitment officer for Edinburgh, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for the public to interact with Scottish soldiers and learn more about what they do. We are really excited about people volunteering to train up for the summer challenge.”
