Tributes for garage explosion victim

TRIBUTES were paid yesterday to a young mechanic who died after an explosion at a garage in Aberdeenshire.

Martyn Massie, 24, died in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the early hours of Saturday after an accident at Pitmachie Garage, Pitmachie, near Old Rayne, on Friday afternoon.

It is understood he suffered head injuries when an oil barrel exploded.

Janet Keith, who owns the garage with her husband, Willie, said: "Martyn was a very trusted, hard-working employee. We were close to him. He felt almost like family."
