Woman in serious condition in hospital after being hit by car while crossing road

The 25-year-old was crossing University Avenue in Glasgow’s West End at around 5.50pm on Friday when she was struck by a Audi A2, travelling east towards Kelvin Way.

She was taken to the Western Infirmary and was initially believed to have only minor injuries, but police said yesterday that she is now in a serious condition.

The 64-year-old man who was driving the car was not injured, but was said to be “upset” by the incident.

Constable Akhtar Ali, from Strathclyde Police’s road policing unit at Partick, appealed for any witnesses to contact him.
