Woman killed in train collision

A WOMAN died after she was hit by a train.

She was struck by the 8:45am Glasgow Central to Largs service at Cardonald station yesterday.

Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service attended, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said the death is not suspicious.

The accident happened at around 9am and led to disruption for rail passengers. Replacement bus services were put on in both directions between Paisley Gilmour Street and Glasgow Central stations.

Police said a report will be prepared for the procurator-fiscal.
