Woman hit by bus in Glasgow city centre hospitalised

A WOMAN is being treated in hospital after she was knocked down by a bus in a city centre close to where a man was hit and later died in a collision earlier this year.

The accident happened at the corner of Argyle Street and Queen Street in Glasgow city centre at around 11.30am.

The 67-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where medical staff said her injuries were not life-threatening.

Police constable David Nicol appealed for information.

“This was a serious incident which has left a woman requiring medical attention,” he said.

“We continue to progress our inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and I would ask that anyone who witnessed the crash contact the Road Policing Unit at Glasgow via the 101 number with any information they may have.”

The road was closed for a time but re-opened at around 2pm.

Brian Rose and his wife were hit by a bus at the same junction, in May.

The couple were trapped under the vehicle, prompting a major response from emergency services with a number of fire engines and a special operations team from the ambulance service involved in releasing them.

The 76-year-old, from Newcastle, died in hospital from his injuries almost a month after the incident.
