Woman critical after being knocked down in Livingston

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car as she crossed a road.

The 49-year-old was struck on Almondvale Road Road, Livingston, West Lothian, as she crossed the road shortly after getting off a bus.

The crash, involving a Volkswagon car, happened at around 5.30pm yesterday.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she is in a critical condition.

Sergeant Neil Inglis, of Police Scotland, said: “We are urgently seeking witnesses to this road traffic collision and anyone who was on Almondvale Road around 5.30pm, which would have been a busy time, is urged to contact police.”

The road was closed for six hours while road traffic police carried out investigations at the scene.
