Woman, 66, dies at blackspot

GRAMPIAN Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman was killed when she was struck by a car, close to the spot where a girl died three years ago after getting off a school bus.

The 66-year-old, who has still to be named, was fatally injured when struck by a blue Audi A4 at 6:20am on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road at Birkenhills, near Turriff.

The road was closed until early afternoon. A police spokesman said the woman had been pronounced dead at the scene. Sergeant David Pirie said: “Our thoughts are with the family.”
