Wi-fi work to be launched for main rail link

WORK paving the way for wi-fi on trains on the main Edinburgh-Glasgow line is to be launched by ministers.

The move follows an apparent impasse over the project since ScotRail completed a feasibility study two years ago for the Scottish Government’s Transport Scotland agency.

Ministers hope the work to identify poor reception areas will enable the winner of the next ScotRail franchise from 2014 to offer passengers wi-fi on the line.

ScotRail said that it was awaiting a response on funding for the work.
