The blaze broke out at about 06:30 near the southbound slipway of Junction 3 on the motorway.
The crane has now been moved to the hard shoulder and one lane southbound has been closed while an oil leak from the fire is dealt with.

Fire crews rushed to attend a fire on a crane which closed part of the M77 in Glasgow.
