Teenagers’ prank condemned after video emerges of pair clinging on to back of bus

ROAD safety campaigners have condemned a stunt by two teenagers as “utter stupidity” after footage emerged of the pair clinging on to the back of a bus in Perth.

A driver filmed the two youths as they climb on to the bus while it is stopped at traffic lights, and they hang on by their fingertips as it accelerates along Glasgow Road.

One of the boys falls from the vehicle and narrowly avoids being hit by the following car, while the other jumps off at a junction further down the road.

The video of the prank was uploaded to Facebook on August 19, and it has been shared by more than 100 people and received over 800 ‘likes’.

Council community safety convener Douglas Pover described those involved in making the video as acting with “utter stupidity”.

“Not only are these youths putting their own lives at risk, they are also putting other road users in danger,” he said. “The people involved might have seen this as a bit of fun, but it could very easily have had tragic consequences.”

He added: “I only hope that people seeing this footage see the real dangers involved and that it is not acceptable behaviour.”

Tayside Police said it had yet to receive any complaints about the video.
