Teenage car crash victim’s parents pay moving tribute

THE parents of a teenager who died following a two vehicle crash on Aberdeen’s Beach Esplanade have led tributes to their “kind and cheeky” son whose smile had lit up their lives.

Conor Donald, 18, from Newmacher, Aberdeenshire, died on Saturday morning when the Fiat Punto he was driving collided with a Ford Transit van on the city’s beachfront road. He had passed his driving test less than a month ago.

The teenager was rushed by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he later died from his injuries.

His distraught parents said yesterday in a statement, issued through Grampian Police: “Our son Conor Donald had the kindest heart. All who knew him were touched by his generosity of spirit. He was the best son, brother, uncle, grandson, great grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.

“Conor was so laid back and cheeky. Always trying to help, usually making things worse. His smile was the light of our lives. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. “

Sergeant Rob Warnock of the force’s Road Policing Department said: “Our inquiries are at an early stage and we are keeping an open mind. I appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward irrespective of how insignificant they may think their information is.”

Mr Donald died less than 48 hours after another teenager, Zoe Dunn, 18, from Aboyne, was killed when her car collided with a tree on the South Deeside Road in Aberdeenshire.
