Six hurt in 16-vehicle pile-up near Arbroath

POLICE are investigating after a series of crashes involving 16 vehicles which left six people injured.

The vehicles were involved in three pile-ups on a stretch of the A92 between Arbroath and Salmond’s Muir, Angus.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.50pm yesterday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that six people were injured and four were taken to hospital.

The road was closed for a time but later reopened.

Police said that inquiries are continuing.
