One neighbour told a daily newspaper: “We [saw] a man standing at the window holding a knife.

“I have never seen so many police in my life.”

At around 11.30pm the man came out of the flat and was taken to hospital for assessment, a Police Scotland spokesman said.

“The male was not injured and the matter has been resolved. There was no-one else involved,” they added.
