Scots face rush-hour battle as new gales hit 70mph

The Met Office has warned that parts of Scotland face “severe gales” gusting at speeds of up to 70mph today.

A yellow severe weather warning – meaning “be aware” – was issued for an area from Dundee to the Borders.

Commuters were expected to face disruption this morning and officials at the Forth Road Bridge said that the crossing was likely to be restricted to cars only for a time. The warning stated: “Take extra care.”
