Ryanair axes Rome route

Ryanair is to scrap its Edinburgh to Rome flights over the winter months.

The Irish airline said it had taken the decision amid the lack of a low-cost deal with Edinburgh Airport and high oil prices, but added that the route will return in the spring.

An Edinburgh Airport spokesman, who described the news as disappointing, said: “We are working closely with them to discuss the future and we continue to work with all of our airlines to maximise the number of routes served by Edinburgh Airport.”
