Police name cyclist killed in taxi crash

A CYCLIST who died in a rush-hour crash with a black cab has been named by police.

Bryan Simons, 40, from Saughton Park, Edinburgh, was killed in the collision on the city’s Corstorphine Road at around 9:15am on Monday.

Lothian and Borders Police said he died at the scene after sustaining a serious head injury. The taxi driver was not hurt.

The road, which leads into Edinburgh city centre, was closed until lunchtime yesterday while officers carried out investigations.

A police spokesman said: “This incident happened during a busy rush-hour period and the area would have been busy with pedestrians.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact police immediately.”
