Police name 64-year-old man who died in motorcycle accident on A701

A motorcyclist who died in a crash on the road between Dumfries and Edinburgh has been named by police.

The incident happened around 5.50pm on Friday on the A701 near Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway.

Alexander Carson, known as Lex, was driving the red and black motorcycle which was involved in the crash.

Emergency services attended and the 64-year-old from Carluke was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant William Broatch previously said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends affected by this incident.”
