Person killed after being hit by train on Edinburgh-Glasgow line

A person has been killed after being hit by a train between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "British Transport Police were called at 12.19pm on January 6th to an area of railway near Lenzie station following a report of a casualty.

"Officers are currently in attendance. Sadly, a person has been pronounced dead at the scene."

Services between Glasgow Queen Street & Aberdeen, Alloa, Dundee, and Edinburgh were cancelled, delayed or revised. Services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High were suspended.

However, ScotRail's latest tweet says the trains are now running again.

It said: "UPDATE: The emergency services have declared it safe to run our trains between Glasgow Queen St and Falkirk High. Services and crews are out of position, some disruption is still expected while we work on getting services back on schedule."
