Pedestrian killed by van on M9 motorway

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a van on a motorway.

The man was fatally injured in a collision with the Ford Transit van on the northbound carriageway of the M9 near Dunblane at about 8.30pm. Emergency services attended but the man died at the scene.

Officers are appealing for witness to the accident to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Tragically, this incident has resulted in the pedestrian’s death and we are in the process of investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

“Police are also conducting inquiries to identify the male and no further details on his identity can be released at this time.”

The road is closed from Junction 10 with HGVs diverted off at Junction 9. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes where possible.
