Mum’s heartache as missing son found dead in Clyde

THE family of a Glasgow man who went missing on Valentine’s Day have spoken of their heartbreak after police told them his body had been found.

Ross Ramsay was reported missing after being last seen in Glasgow city centre. The 30-year-old had entered the Gala Casino on Sauchiehall Street, before walking in the Charing Cross area of the city.

Police confirmed last night that a body of young man had been found in the River Clyde on Monday. However, they did not release the identity.

But Mrs Ramsay wrote on
Facebook, which she had used to raise awareness of her son’s disappearance, that police had told her his body had been found.

She wrote: “We received the dreaded phone call/visit from the police yesterday to say that Ross had been found. The coastguard found him in the Clyde. Our hearts are broken and the feelings of sadness cannot be described. I find it so difficult to express how I feel.”

It is understood the body was found at King George V Dock near Braehead shopping centre.

Originally from Arbroath, Angus, the sound director lived in the Maryhill area of Glasgow. He was said to have been treated for depression, and had not been carrying his medication at the time of his disappearance.

In the days after he had vanished, police carried out a city-wide appeal for information on his whereabouts.

In the Facebook post, his mother wrote: “Ross you are a son in a million and we miss you more than words can say.”

She added: “Ross – our Music Man – rest in peace now my darling, with no more pain or hurt. You had assured me ‘It won’t come to this mum, I don’t have the courage’. You found the courage son as you ‘wanted to be free’. Rest now Ross – you are where you wanted to be – free. Love you loads and always will.”
