Man’s death on island road ‘unexplained’

THE death of a man aged 49 found at the side of a Hebridean road is being treated as unexplained, police have said.

He was found beside the A865 at Ardmore, South Uist, at 9:45am yesterday. Northern Constabulary said the road would remain closed while officers examined the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area between Monday afternoon and yesterday morning and saw a man walking there.

He is around 5ft 7in, with a stocky build and dark, greying hair. He was wearing black trousers and a grey speckled, woollen jumper.
