He grabbed the 44-year-old victim as she was about to leave the Glasgow Exhibition Centre to Lanark service at Uddingston station on Friday evening.

She was left shaken but was not injured.

British Transport Police appealed for information about the incident, which happened at around 10.50pm.

Detective Constable David Merchant said: “This was an extremely unsavoury and unwarranted attack and I am appealing for anyone who can provide information which can help identify the man in the wheelchair responsible to come forward.

“This was a very busy service with people returning from a sell-out concert at the Hydro and supporters travelling home after the Scotland and Republic of Ireland match at Celtic Park.”

The suspect is described as being aged in his mid-30s, of medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a cream top and jeans.

Police are reviewing CCTV from the stations and on the train as part of the investigation.
