The report is in connection with alleged road traffic offences, according to police.

The move comes after photographs recently published in the media showed a male motorist apparently holding what appeared to be an iPad in his hands, resting against the steering wheel.

A tabloid newspaper printed the photos and claimed that the car was travelling along the road when the pictures were taken.

Police Scotland later said: “A 20-year-old man is subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

Attention

“Officers from Road Policing Scotland would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that using mobile phones or other hand-held devices will distract them from paying attention to the road ahead.

“If you have a sat nav, programme it before you set off and never try to read or send text messages when driving. Such behaviour is irresponsible and potentially dangerous.”
