Man hit by police car charged with Elgin burglary

Police have confirmed that a man injured in a collision with a police car in Elgin has been charged with an alleged house break-in in the area where the accident occurred.

Police Scotland announced this afternoon that the 21 year-old man had been been charged in connection with the burglary of a house in the Pinefield Crescent area of the town.

A 24 year-old man has also been charged in connection with the alleged crime.

The spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that two men, aged 21 and 24, have been charged in connection with an alleged break-in to a house in the Pinefield Crescent area this morning at around 6:15 am.

“The men are expected to appear at Elgin Sherriff Court on Tuesday, 6 August. “

The spokesman added: “Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. As the matter is now the subject of active court proceedings, Police Scotland can make no further comment. “

Pinefield Crescent in Elgin has been closed to traffic following the early morning collision.
