Hope Street in Glasgow City Centre has been closed amid reports of a 'dangerous building'

Police Scotland confirmed that they were made aware of a “dangerous structure” on Hope Street in Glasgow earlier today and that the road is currently closed.

Hope Street in Glasgow city centre has this evening been shut down due to a “dangerous structure”.

Glasgow Live reported that Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team confirmed just before 5.30pm that Hope Street is closed to all traffic between West George Street and West Regent Street due to a “dangerous” building.

They said that a crane is currently on site and contractors are dealing with the incident.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a dangerous structure at the junction of Hope Street and West George Street around 2.30pm on Friday, January, 15."The road is currently closed."

Glasgow City Council have been contacted for a comment.

The nature of the risk the building poses is yet to be confirmed, more as we have it.
