Five taken to hospital following M8 crash

FIVE people including three children were taken to hospital after a crash on the M8 today.

A Land Rover Freelander and a Renault Megane were involved in a collision on the eastbound carriageway close to junction three near Livingston at around 9.45am.

A man and three children, who were in the Land Rover, were taken to St John’s Hospital for precautionary checks while the female driver of the Renault Megane was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment after sustaining minor injury.Police, fire and ambulance crews attended were all called to the scene.

The road was closed for around two hours but has now reopened.

Police were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and appealed for anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
