CAMPAIGNERS protesting over the price of rail fares were today gathering at Waverley Station. The FareFail coalition said the Valentine’s Day protest would put pressure on government ministers.

A day of action – called “Love Trains, Hate High Fares” – will see campaigners gather at major stations across the UK.

Peter Robinson, secretary of the Alliance for Jobs and Climate, said: “Thousands of commuters have told us that fares are too high – but the government refuses to listen.”
