Family pay tribute to woman killed in Aberdeen Esplanade crash

A DEVASTATED family have paid tribute to the female driver who was killed in a two-car crash on the Beach Esplanade in Aberdeen on Monday.

The woman who died in the accident has been named as

Jacqueline Lyon, 47, from the Cove area of Aberdeen.

The council worker’s red BMW was involved in a collision with a black Volkswagen Golf on the busy road. The two male occupants of the Golf remain in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with what are said to be non life-threatening injuries.

Mrs Lyon’s grieving family said in a statement: “We are utterly devastated by the loss of Jacqueline. She was a warm, loving and generous woman and the hole left in our lives will be impossible to fill.

“She had spent her entire life in Aberdeen and has many family and friends here, who will miss her terribly.

“Jacqueline was extremely family-orientated and was well loved by her colleagues at the city council, where she worked for 20 years.”

The statement continued: “She leaves behind a loving family, including husband Mark and daughter Nicola. We now have to begin the incredibly difficult task of trying to rebuild our lives.”

Valerie Watts, the chief executive of Aberdeen City Council, said: “Our thoughts go out to Jackie’s family, friends and colleagues at this tragic time. Jackie was much-loved and dedicated member of staff who gave 20 years’ service to her city and she will be sorely missed.”

Meanwhile, Grampian Police issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the crash.
