An electricity cable has fallen on to the rail line at a Fife station, disrupting services.

It happened late morning at Markinch, blocking the line.

A team of engineers is working to remove it.

Scotrail has alerted commuters to the impact on services.

It has confirmed that train tickets can be used on Stagecoach bus services for services at many Fife stations including Kirkcaldy, Inverkeithing, Dalgety Bay, Aberdour, Burntisland. Kinghorn, Glenrothes, Dunfermline, and Cupar.

Buses can also be used for journeys to Dundee and across Angus.
