Elderly pedestrian killed in two car A96 crash

AN ELDERLY pedestrian has died after an accident which also involved two cars on the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road.

The emergency services were called to the scene of the crash near Tornagrain just before 8.30pm last night.

A Police Scotland spokesman said the accident involved two cars and a female pedestrian.

He added: “Sadly, as a result of her injuries the pedestrian died at the scene.”

Police are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, or may have seen an elderly woman walking in the area, to contact them on 101.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian struck by a car in South Uist last week has been named as 54-year-old John MacLachlan from the island.

The accident happened last Thursday evening on the A865 at Creagorry in Benbecula, involving a car and a pedestrian.

Sadly, as a result of his injuries the pedestrian died.
