EasyJet disruption threat lifted as pilots agree deal over fatigue

Disruption at Scotland's biggest airline was averted today when pilots voted to accept a new offer from the airline over tiredness.

Members of the British Airline Pilots’ Association (Balpa) had threatened industrial action in a ballot in September over concerns about staff fatigue.

However, they have now voted by 68 per cent to 32 per cent to accept the airline's latest offer.

Balpa general secretary Brian Strutton said: “This is a positive outcome for Balpa and EasyJet, and the fact we have managed to reach a deal that satisfies most of our members is testament to Balpa’s ethos of ‘professional engagement’.

“Balpa will now be working closely with EasyJet to ensure this agreement delivers real improvements to pilots’ lifestyles.”
