Driver in hospital after Edinburgh bypass crash

A DRIVER has been taken to hospital after his car crashed into the central reservation of a city bypass.

The collision happened at 6.47am today on the westbound Edinburgh City Bypass between Straiton and Lothianburn.

The male driver became trapped in the car and was removed by firefighters.

The man, believed to have been the only person involved in the one-vehicle crash, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (ERI) with minor injuries.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Liberton, Dalkeith and Sighthill were involved in the rescue operation.

A spokeswoman said: “The car had struck the central reservation. One male driver was assisted from the vehicle and taken to the ERI with minor injuries.”
