Driver dies after rural road lorry crash in Fife

The emergency services were called to the scene at the bottom of a road known as Liza Brae on the B981 between Cardenden and Lochgelly in Fife at 2.40pm.

A skip lorry and Vauxhall Astra had crashed and fallen down an embankment.

The driver of the car, a local man, died at the scene.

A spokesman for Fife Division of Police Scotland said: “We were called to this collision around 2.40pm this afternoon, and on arrival discovered that a skip lorry had collided with a Vauxhall Astra being driven by a local man, and had then gone down an embankment.”

“All the emergency services attended and the driver of the Astra was declared dead at the scene.

“Recovery of the vehicles, combined with the need to carry out full accident investigation procedures, means that the road will be closed for several more hours.”
