The road was also closed while police and firefighters recovered the vehicle.

It had crashed down an embankment towards the line.

The incident led to the cancellation or part cancellation of four ScotRail trains and delays to two others.

Police Scotland said the incident happened near an avalanche shelter over the road and railway.

Network Rail said the vehicle had crashed off the road down an embankment in a wooded area.

It hit a tree and a branch was pushed over so it leaned across the track.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “It is too close to the line for trains to go through.”
