Digby Jones excited to be on board at Flybe

Former CBI director-general Lord Digby Jones has been appointed as a non-executive director of low-cost carrier Flybe.

Jones headed the CBI between 2000 and 2006 and is a former trade and investment minister. Among numerous other posts, he is chairman of Triumph Motorcycles and British Airways’ international business advisory board.

He said: “I am extremely excited to be joining Flybe, one of the UK’s outstanding business success stories which, in just a decade, has become Europe’s largest regional airline.”

Flybe is due to announce its full-year results in June and last week the airline said market conditions remained “challenging” but it was confident about its long-term future.

Jim French, the Scots-born chairman and chief executive of Flybe, said: “We will benefit hugely from Digby’s insight and counsel.”
