City inspires bus firm plan

The success of Lothian Buses has encouraged councillors in Aberdeen to consider forming a council-owned bus company.

Lothian Buses, which is supported by the councils of Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian, is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading bus companies. Its performance was raised in an Aberdeen City Council meeting, following concerns about First raising fares.

Council leader Callum McCaig said: “If Edinburgh can do it, I don’t see why we can’t.”
