Figures released by BAA, which runs Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, show all three airports increased at a higher rate than the rest of the UK.
A total of 19.4 million passengers used the airports in 2011 – an 8.1 per cent increase on 2010 figures. Just under 9.4m flew from the Capital.
