Change plan for meters

A SCOTTISH council has agreed to modify its parking machines to allow motorists to continue to use 5p and 10p coins – despite the Capital’s council saying such adaptions would be too expensive.

Since the start of this month, Edinburgh’s parking machines have not been accepting 5p or 10p coins as city leaders insisted it would cost £360,000 to adapt the machines.

But South Lanarkshire Council has confirmed it will adapt its 80 machines, although it has not disclosed the cost.
