A cargo ship has been damaged after crashing into a harbour in Scotland, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said.
The ship, named UFA, hit the west pier in Ayr in South Ayrshire at 1.30pm today.
As a result a hole was made in the ship above the waterline.
The Troon lifeboat and Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team were called into action but were not required.
A spokeswoman for the MCA said: “A cargo ship called the UFA collided with the west pier in Ayr and there is damage to the vessel, including a hole above the waterline.
“There are no injuries and no pollution.
“At the moment it is anchored off the coast.”
