Car set alight on residential street in Mid Calder

A BMW X5 was set alight on a residential street in West Lothian, with police now appealing for information.

Officers are keen to trace any witnesses following a suspicious fire in Mid Calder.

The incident happened around 12.20am on Wednesday 18th July in Wallace Mill Gardens.

Two people were seen to approach a white BMW X5, which was parked on the roadway, and set it alight, resulting in extensive damage.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Detective Constable Lynn Myles from Livingston CID said: “We are still trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident but thankfully no one was injured.

“The fire was quickly brought under control be emergency services, however the consequences of this act could have been far worse.

“At this time we don’t have any description of the suspects and so we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time.

“Similarly anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation should also contact police immediately.”
