Car bursts into flames after three-vehicle crash at Northfield

Dramatic scenes unfolded at Northfield this evening, with one car reportedly bursting into flames after a three-vehicle crash.

The collision occurred at around 6pm on Friday at Northfield Broadway and involved three vehicles.

It is understood that one car crashed into two others, both of which were parked and unoccupied at the time.

A local eyewitness said they saw one car burst into flames before emergency services arrived.

A fire engine and three police cars arrived shortly afterwards and cordoned off the area.

The number 4 bus was diverted down Mountcastle Road North.

No casualties were reported.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “About 6.10pm tonight (Friday 10th August), emergency services attended a three car road traffic collision on Northfield Broadway, Edinburgh. Enquiries are ongoing and there are no reports of serious injury.”
