Airdrie man dies at work after being hit by car

A 37-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while at work.

He was working in High Street in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire at 10.35am when he was struck, said police.

The man was taken to the town’s Monklands District Hospital where he died.

The driver of the car, said to have been extremely distressed, was treated at the scene by paramedics.

An investigation is under way and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
